Partnership with Johns Hopkins University Center for Research & Reform in Education will provide meaningful insights to the Education Community
MALVERN, Pennsylvania. — March 1, 2016. Frontline Technologies, a leader in K-12 Education Software, announced today the launch of the Frontline Research and Learning Institute. The institute will provide data-driven research, resources and observations to support and advance the educational community in its goal to impact student achievement.
Leveraging the extensive industry knowledge Frontline has collected since its inception in 1998, the Institute will use historical data to gain insight into research outcomes and implications for school districts.
“It is not just our duty to Frontline clients, but our mission to serve the whole of the education community that led us to form The Frontline Research and Learning Institute. Our platform takes more than fifteen years of data and allows us to make relevant and actionable observations that will positively impact the way school districts across America approach K-12 education,” said Tim Clifford, President & CEO of Frontline Technologies.
Using reports published by the Frontline Research and Learning Institute to provide statistical benchmarks, clients are able to engage in strategic conversation and decision-making. All publications and reports will include aggregate and anonymous data collected from Frontline’s more than 7,300 K–12 district customers nationwide.
“Access to education data of this size and detail allows school districts to reflect on their own daily practice while measuring their progress against thousands of analogous organizations across the country,” said Elizabeth Combs, Managing Director of the Institute. “The Frontline Research and Learning Institute provides benchmarks to inform strategic conversation, expanding the reach and impact of educators by providing critical insights into K-12 practices.”
To realize Frontline’s mission to have research affect curriculum and empower student success, a partnership was formed with the Johns Hopkins University Center for Research and Reform in Education. The Johns Hopkins CRRE will corroborate, review and evaluate Institute reports, to assist in formulating research focus and questions and to write research reports on particular topics.
“We are incredibly excited to provide research and technical assistance to the Frontline Research and Learning Institute,” said Dr. Steven Ross, Principle Investigator at the Johns Hopkins University CRRE. “The richness of the data set and its national reach are ideal for the work we plan to execute and the impact our findings will have in the K-12 education community.”
The Institute’s first report, “What’s the Real Story on K-12 Employee Absences?”, was released today covering the analysis of employee absences and substitute fill rates in K-12 education. Every month, the Frontline Research and Learning Institute will issue a report that includes comparative data to help get at the root of this issue across the United States, not just in select school districts. The Institute will also publish quarterly research papers focusing on industry trends and key findings.
The Frontline Research and Learning Institute also intends to form an advisory council comprised of well-known education thought leaders, researchers and practitioners. Members will be announced in the coming weeks.
